This crossbow is typical of many medieval 15thC munition quality war crossbows so it is plain and rather block like. Bow irons came in around 1400 though lashing was also still used, and this crossbow is made with irons.
It is possible to span this 170lb medieval crossbow by hand but it does come with a goats foot lever and with 3 free bolts (ash shafts, modern head, feather fletched)
