Based very accurately on The Battle Abbey Sword held by Scottish Heritage, which I measured and handled personally for the project.
The sword is very distinctive and is probably a 19thC reworking of a longer medieval sword, but of an early 15thC style and features a notably heavy pommel and guard.
The sword was undoubtedly a working weapon, but it is fair to say the Abbot of Battle Abbey must have been a strong man! Also known as a hand and a half, longsword or bastard sword.
The original was gilded, this reproduction can be made either as polished bronze or gold plated with silver detail around the arms. It is possible to make the sword with your arms in the rondel instead.
NB the price for this sword does not include a scabbard. Please get in touch if you are interested in buying one.
