English Rondel with fluted box grip - SOLD

This medieval rondel dagger is based on a river find from the Thames and is now held in a private collection – mid 14thC.  This comes from the early days of the rondel when the front disc had arrived, but a pommel still formed the end of the grip rather than another disc rondel as came later.

Strong hollow ground singled edged blade with copper inlaid makers mark, horn spacer disc and fluted box wood grip and bronze fittings.

Single edged with 25cm blade and comes with a brown leather sheath with incised and stamped decoration and bronze chape.
