Mid 17thC Scottish dirk - SOLD

This Scottish Dirk dagger is based on the early simple dirks of the 17thC and had a guard and pommel of cast brass with a turned, ribbed blackwood grip and a castelated peen nut.

The blade is a  strong 6mm/1/4" thick at the guard and tapering down to a wicked point with a false edge.

Double layer green veg tan sheath with incised and stamped decoration and finished with a bronze chape.

Blade length 35cm/13.5"

Overall length 48cm/19"

Grip length 7cm/2.75" (This is a the actual length of the grip from pommel to haunches, the fist actually grips down onto the haunches so a reasonable grip length on this knife is actually 10cm/4")
