Early 16thC landsknecht '8 guard'. A very Landsknecht dagger with a bronze decorated fishtail pommel. A slender horn grip and a delicate bronze guard formed like the number '8' on one side, hence the name, and the other half of the guard is not present.
This one-sided guard layout is very typical of German daggers of this period. Double sided diamond section blade with an inlaid makers mark.
Double layered black vegtan leather sheath, incised and decorated all round and finished with a bronze chape.
Blade length: 25cm/10"
Grip length: 10cm/4"
