Long Rugger - SOLD

Ruggers were a typically German working and fighting knife from the late 15th and early to mid 16thC.  This is clearly more for fighting than work.

This example is based heavily on an unusually long piece sold in 2010 through Fricker Auctions and is now in a private collection.

The knife has a box wood grip with steel fittings and a nagel carved like a fleur de lys. The spine has some filework and the grips are pinned with decorative bronze rivets.

The sheath is made from double layer veg tan leather and is decorated with a carved floral pattern.

Overall length 61cm/24"

Grip length 10cm/4"

Blade length 47cm/18.5"
