14th Century Rondel Dagger - SOLD

This late 14thC Rondel Dagger has a fabricated hollow steel pommel with incised and pounced decoration and a bronze tang button.

The grip is grooved and faceted Laburnum and the fat front rondel disc, again is fabricated from steel and bronze. The blade is massively strong, hollow ground, single edged with a bevelled, but blunt false edge.

Rondel daggers first appeared in England mid 14thC, but tended to maintain a more traditional style top guard, but by around 1400 the classic Rondel Dagger form, with two big discs had been established.

Double layer incised vegtan sheath with bronze chape.
