This is a simple and classic version of a medieval 15thC Bauernwehr or 'Farmers knife'.
These knives were popular amongst the lower and middle classes in the 14th, 15th and 16thC and were tough general purpose knives for farm work and fighting. The fighting link may seen strange, but the presence of the nagel shows that it was used for this purpose too.
The blade has a good distal taper, but maintains a strong spine and apple seed edge to the tip, ensuring a good strong camp knife.
Walnut grips and steel furniture with a double layer veg tan sheath.
Overall length 49cm/19"
Blade length 35cm/13.5"
Grip length 11cm/4.5"
