14thC English rondel dagger Yew handle SOLD

This English Medieval rondel dagger is based on a piece in a private collection and recovered from the Thames.  The dagger is dated approximately 1370 and is an early version of a rondel in that it has the front discs of a rondel dagger but still maintains the pommel form of quillon daggers.

The engraved front discs sandwich a layer of yew heart and the pommel bronze.  The blade is strong and stout and single edged with a copper inlaid makers mark.

The sheath is double layer veg tan leather in a rich red and finished with a bronze chape.

Single edged with 25cm blade.
